How steps are counted

Steps reads the Step Count you already have in Apple Health. It counts iPhone and Apple Watch only, and dedupes between the two so having both doesn't inflate your total. It never asks you to type a number in.

Why do some of my steps show as NOT COUNTED?

Any step sample written to Health by something other than your iPhone or Apple Watch — a manual entry, a third-party fitness app, a treadmill's own app writing Health data directly — is deliberately excluded. It still shows in your board with a NOT COUNTED label so nothing silently disappears from the Health app total you'd otherwise expect to match.

Why does today's number keep changing?

Today stays provisional until midnight in the race's own time zone, not yours. Once a day rolls over there, that day's total is final for standings purposes.

Health access looks off — what do I do?

iOS only asks for Health permission once and never tells an app whether you said yes or no. If your board looks wrong, open ME and check the health status shown there, then confirm Steps has permission under Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Steps.

Deleting your account

Open your player card in the app and choose Delete everything. No email required. This removes your profile, step history, and every race you've joined — it can't be undone. Full removal from backups completes within 30 days. See the privacy policy for details.

Joining a race

A race owner shares either a 6-character code or a link. Sign-ups close at the first whistle — once a race has started, a code or link no longer gets you in.
